METOLONG DAM

The Metolong Dam and raw water pump station project in the Kingdom of Lesotho required the construction of a 73-meter-high roller compacted concrete dam, with a crest length of 210 meters. The project also involved the creation of a 53 million cubic meter reservoir at full supply level, featuring a multi-stage raw water intake and pump station, as well as a raw water transmission main from the dam to a downstream water treatment facility.

Given the country’s history of droughts, the development of the Metolong Dam significantly benefits half a million people, providing water to one-third of Lesotho’s population.
