Engineer Hanan Badi Awwad, the Executive Director of Organizational Development and Support has been nominated by the Jordan Engineers Association to be the new Head of the Arab Women Engineers Committee. Engineer Hanan attended the first meeting, where she presented a strategic business plan for the committee at the Federation of Arab Engineers, which was held in Beirut on 4th September.
The committee exists to further support the active roles played by Arab women engineers in many professional and social sectors. It is built on the foundations of cooperation and mutual respect to create enduring partnerships in the future of the industry and to create the ability for women to bring positive change, overcome obstacles and succeed despite challenges.
The main aim of the organization is to highlight the challenges faced by women engineers during their careers. It's mission stems from faith in engineering and its role in building societies, overcoming obstacles and difficulties and achieving sustainability for its society.
Goals of the Federation of Arab Engineers
- To organize a regular Arab forum for engineers in Arab countries to follow up on achieving the objectives of the committee.
- To establish a unified and common database of Arab engineers involved with all engineering bodies in the Arab world.
- To prepare programs that will help to build capacity and acquire skills according to the latest standards of professional and technical competencies in engineering fields, in order to support Arab engineers to reach decision-making positions and achieve professional goals.
